MCSD Instructional Technology
Specialists offer two different categories of technology classes:
(1) customized training for specific schools or groups and (2) system-wide
Staff Development courses. Your school or department can contact
your Instructional Technology Specialist to arrange for customized courses
on many different topics, including the courses scheduled for system-wide
training as listed on the following pages. Customized courses can
be scheduled at a time suitable for your staff and can take place in your
building or in one of our teaching labs.

Before you register for a system-wide technology class, please identify the prerequisites for a course. If you are not sure that you have the specified skills, check with your Instructional Technology Specialist. The skills covered in Essential Skills are required for all other courses; the skills covered in Word Intro are required for all subsequent courses. |
| A single Professional Learning Unit (PLU) represents 10 clock hours of class contact. For training received in instructional technology classes, an employee can “bank” the contact hours for a single school year (July 1 through June 30). For example, if a teacher accumulates 19 hours by June 30, he/she will receive one PLU. The nine hours cannot be carried over to the next year. | |

Several courses are offered more than once. These are indicated by letters (A, B). When you register for a repeated course, be sure to specify its name and letter. A class will “make” if at least ten people have registered one week prior to the class; otherwise, the class will be canceled and those registered will be notified by the Tech Center. If you want to put your name on a list to take an unscheduled system-wide course, call or email Pat Rose. When enough people express an interest in a relevant topic, we will schedule a course. Most of the classes are held at Britt David in Rooms 13 and 15. |
